RPA NEWSLETTER...

APRIL 2008

President's Letter 2008

Dear Fellow RPA Members,

I am so pleased to be the leader of the RPA. We are an organization that has active participation by its members, Officers and Board of Directors.

2008 Schedule of RPA Meetings

Saturday April 26 10:00 AM
Monday June 23 7:30 PM
Monday July 14 7:30 PM
Monday July 28 7:30 PM
Monday August 11 7:30 PM
Monday August 15 7:30 PM
Saturday September 27 10:00 AM

All meetings are to be held at
The Catholic Club of RP/BP
204-10 Rockaway Point Blvd.

Our annual events are enjoyed by people of all ages in the community. There is sincere concern for the youth and seniors. The Association continues to sponsor successful events and is open to the exploring additional events that there might be interest in.

Support of the Cooperative Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Family Fun Day is evidenced by financial contributions from the RPA.  American flags that fly on the main road each year and our support of the Wounded Warriors Project show the civic pride of our Association.

I’d like to thank you the members for the support that you’ve given to me personally while I’ve been your President.  Your Officers and Directors must also be thanked for the commitment that they’ve given and continue to give to our Association.

Please continue to attend our General Membership meetings.  You will see familiar faces and you’ll have the opportunity to meet new members of the RPA.  If you haven’t attended our meetings in the past mark your calendars and make an effort to attend.

Note the events listed in this newsletter and if you haven’t volunteered for any of them yet think about it.  I can tell you that you receive so much in return when you volunteer your time and efforts.  On that note I’ll conclude my letter by stating that I appreciate the many kind words I’ve heard over the years for the effort that I’ve put into continuing the work of so many volunteers before me.  My job is an easy one because I simply follow a wonderful blueprint that was designed many years ago by people who had a vision of something that could serve a purpose and could last.

Sincerely,
Terri Cassidy

The Rockaway Point Association (RPA) is a community group comprised of shareholders whose goal is to ensure the safety, beautification and quality of life in our community.  The RPA acts as a liaison between the Breezy Point Coop and the Rockaway Point community.  The Association also represents the membership in dealing with our neighboring civic associations, the Cooperative, and other agencies. Afterall, many voices are better than one.

Who runs the Rockaway Point Association?

The officers and board members of the Association are Rockaway Point shareholders elected by you. They give their time voluntarily for the betterment of our entire community.  They meet on a regular basis during the year.  Elections are held at the last general meeting of the summer (August 25, 2008).

How do you participate in the Association?

The RPA holds seven general meetings a year and you are encouraged to attend. These meetings provide a great opportunity to meet your neighbors, keep informed and up-to-date on community issues, express your opinions and share your thoughts and ideas.  Occasionally guest speakers, local politicians and Cooperative representatives are invited to discuss local issues.

What are the annual dues and what are they used for?

The RPA is funded from dues received from Rockaway Point shareholders. Our current dues are $30 per year. The funds are used to pay for Association operating costs such as meetings, insurance, and mailings.  RPA dues invoices are mailed to all members at the beginning of each year.  The 2008 dues notice is enclosed with this newsletter. Payment is due now -- please don’t wait until summer general meeting.  You will receive an RPA membership card upon payment. Please bring the card to RPA general meetings.  RPA dues are charged annually and should not be confused with your monthly Cooperative assessment.

The following is a partial list and description of some of our services that are funded by you:
